In the local area we can offer you wild, rugged hills with many walks and hikes to choose from, cycle routes and forest roads, marvelous lochs, historic houses, superb gardens and little nurseries for rare and unusual plants. There are also a selection of National Trust for Scotland properties, picturesque harbor towns, arts and crafts, bird watching, golf, swimming, museums, beaches and much much more…. Come and See!

GOLF: There is a number of excellent golf courses within an easy drive of us. The 9 hole course at New Galloway is quite challenging and there are others at Castle Douglas (9), Dalbeattie (9), Kirkcudbright (18), Gatehouse (9), Brighouse Bay (18), Colvend (18), Newton Stewart (18) and Southerness (18).

CYCLING: Near by is the Galloway Forest Park where nearly all the woodland roads have been open up for access by cyclists. In addition the National Cycle Route, and new National Cycle By-Way both passes through the area.

LOCAL GARDENS: The Nation Trust for Scotland's garden at Threave is a special attraction with a wealth of plants exhibited. Cally-Gardens, Gatehouse of Fleet the emphasis is on unusual herbaceous perennials with about 3,000 varieties planted out in over 30 large borders. There are also several garden centers in the area. Further a field Logan Botanic Gardens at Port Patrick is recommended.

WALKING: The Southern Upland Way passes to the north of us, and we have a leaflet which details several shorter walks utilizing the parts of the route. Much closer are many miles of signed and unsigned roads and paths to take you up into the hills or along the breathtaking coasts of Galloway.
